Income Protection Insurance is a comprehensive insurance policy in many ways but will not cover the policy holder in the event of unemployment and redundancy. If this is a requirement of the policy holder along with cover for illness and any accidents that could lead to the holder being unable to work then Accident, Sickness and Unemployment Insurance (ASU) could be an option.
An ASU policy will cover the insured in the event of the policy holder being unable to work for a period of time due to accident, sickness or being made redundant. However, the benefit will only continue for a period of either 12 or 24 months, and in some cases the benefits can be limited.
A lot of consideration has to be taken when selecting the correct way of insuring your income and it could be wise to get advice when making this decision.
